The Economics of Sustainability

A range of challenges from volatile oil and food prices, financial, economic and debt crises to climate change are threatening global efforts to achieve development that is sustainable, or that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. These multi-dimensional challenges do not have purely economic solutions, nor purely social or environmental ones. They require integrated solutions that combine economic, social and environmental elements.

The Global Research Consortium for Sustainable Development offers by far the best analysis of how the financial, economic and debt crisis will affect humanitarian and development funding and how to develop a counter-cyclical strategy building. The conference programme is dedicated to the current situation and offers an open international forum for the discussion of this topic. The aim is to establish new design perspectives and actions through dialogue with representatives from civil society, politics, economics, and science, individuals amongst others.

This year conferences will take place in two selected different host countries: one in Middle and Low Income country (Ghana) and the second one in High Income Country (United States of America).

The 2012 conference at New York, USA will take place at NYC Seminar and Conference Center, located at 71 West 23rd Street, Suite 515 New York, NY 10010, USA.

The conference at Accra-Ghana will take place at Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) located at Castle Rd. - Opposite State House OSU, Accra. Positioned nearby all significant locations, this international venue comprises of around 6 conference halls, 3 modern meeting halls, 2 committee halls, a press centre, high -tech features and a multi-functional conference hall. Ultramodern and well-equipped, the Accra International Conference Center is an international platform for hosting eminent social events, large-scale conferences, seminars and business meetings.

LATE REGISTRATION PROCEDURES:

Please find attached to this message, the Registration Form which you will print, complete and fax to +1-630-403-7325 / +1-419-735-2366 with the Proof of Payment of the registration fee to the Summit Secretariat for verification and follow up. The registration form is also available online via our online registration platform at the following address http://www.grcsdev.org/onlineregistration.html for quick registration but you are advised to make sure you have all the necessary registration information at hands including the payment details before starting the registration process online, for incomplete registration data will not be processed.

PAYMENT OF THE REGISTRATION FEE:

For both New York (USA) and Accra, Ghana and conferences, the required registration fee is €290 (Two Hundred and Ninety Euros) per selected applicant and per conference or its equivalent currency in US$ which is 365.00$ per conference and per applicant. VISA PROCESSING

GHANA ENTRY VISA:

Nationals of certain countries can visit Ghana for up to three months without a visa but will need to be granted a work permit or visa to take up employment. Citizens of the following countries do not need a visa to enter Ghana: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. For Nationals of countries not mentioned above the Local Organizing Committee has made special arrangement with Ghana Immigration Services for the issuance of their entry visa at the country major entry points upon presentation of a valid passport or other legal travel documents. U.S ENTRY VISA (The Visa Waiver Program (VWP)

The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables nationals of 35 participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business (visitor [B] visa purposes only) for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. The program was established in 1986 with the objective of eliminating unnecessary barriers to travel, stimulating the tourism industry, and permitting the Department of State to focus consular resources in other areas. VWP eligible travelers may apply for a visa, if they prefer to do so. Nationals of VWP countries must meet eligibility requirements to travel without a visa on VWP, and therefore, some travelers from VWP countries are not eligible to use the program. VWP travelers are required to have a valid authorization through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to travel, are screened at the port of entry into the United States, and are enrolled in the Department of Homeland Security’s US-VISIT program.

In order to facilitate the US entry visa processing for those who are not eligible for the Visa Waiver Program, we have instructed our Logistics Department to resort to services of Attorney Charles Goldsmith, an immigration firm, based in the U.S to obtain registered delegates' visas. Mr. Charles Goldsmith will be acting as your representative attorney before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in order to secure your travel documents, especially your visa within a very short period of time (same day service).

I'm writing this with tears in my eyes. I came down here to London, United Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately I was mugged at the park of the hotel where I stayed, all cash, credit card and cell phone were stolen off me but luckily for me I still have my passport with me.
